THE problem with the repugnant PNC/APNU is that they just do not know when to stop. They have done the unthinkable with so many firsts, chief of which is the creation of a failed state; that is, Guyana becoming the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, during their long tenure in office 1964 - 1992.
Let’s not forget that they chalked up the dubious title of pariah state. Not only

were we the poorest, but no one wanted to come to, far less do business with, a place called Guyana.
Even in the eyes of the small minnows of CARICOM, Guyana became a jocularity. We were a laughing stock destined for the dung heap of history. No one cared for us, no one even bothered with “them Guyanese."

The PPP/C rose to office, and has done a fantastic job in bringing back dignity and pride to our country. It was an uphill task that saw the government running here and there, begging for debt write-offs, begging for investors to come by our way, while at the same time having to battle with a violent and subversive opposition at home.

It was arduous, back-breaking work, yet the government has done reasonably well, given the circumstances.

Notwithstanding the massive strides the government has made, some individuals in the midst of its ranks have messed up by putting self before people, and this has caused the governing party to receive much-needed punishment, which I would say it rightfully deserves.

A clear indication of the people’s dissent was evidenced in the way they voted in the last election. They sent a clear warning to the PPP/C that a party that fails to listen to its constituents, one which behaves arrogantly and irresponsibly, the people will have no choice but to place that party in a position of a minority government. This is a good thing, because the government is now forced to listen to the people.

However, it does not mean in any way that the majority of the people have abandoned the PPP/C. Far from it! It simply means that the PPP/C needs to take an inventory of itself; correct the glaring wrongs, and fly right -- something the party is still guilty of.

But I am happy to announce that the PPP/C is still the people's party, and the only one that the people have in supreme regard. So the party is still in good company.

However, the foolishness that is at work in the combined opposition is certainly disgusting. The people abhor this kind of nonsense; and when they speak again, will put an end to it. To think that one year has passed and practically nothing has been done to move this country forward. Most of the bills and motions to get the country's business done have been shot down and brushed aside as junk. The people's business has been treated with scant regard.
Let me remind the opposition that the Guyanese public does not fancy this type of behaviour. A year on and the only thing on the table, so far, is the opposition's idle tomfoolery, putting forward their agenda as if they are the government. They are so full of their empty selves that they are even trying to put up a budget for this country.

How empty and dense can these people be? Where in the world did they get that "bright idea” that an opposition can put up a budget?
But this is the foolishness that exists at the present moment in a Parliament that is a big joke. The English categorises such persons as incorrigible, a bunch of individuals who cannot change. In religious terminology, they are beyond redemption. In any case, they are a bunch of losers who do not know when to end a sick joke. What I can say to them is “enjoy yourselves, the masquerade will soon end.
