PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC) – Trinidad and Tobago will face teams from England and Sri Lanka as they seek to qualify for this year’s Champions League Twenty20.
In the fixtures released for the cash-rich tournament, the Caribbean champions have been installed in the second qualifying pool which sees them clashing with the runners-up in the English domestic T20 league and Sri Lanka’s domestic champions. Neither of these has been determined. The qualifying tournament will run from October 9 to 11 and will involve six teams divided into two groups of three. Pakistan’s Sialkot Stallions head the first qualifying pool which also includes Auckland Aces of New Zealand and the yet to be determined English T20 champions. The two top teams will advance to the main draw which has been divided into Group A and Group B and which runs from October 13 to 28. Reigning CLT20 champions Mumbai Indians have been drawn in Group B headed by Indian Premier League runners-up Chennai Super Kings. Group B is led by IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders. All three teams feature Trinidadian players with Kieron Pollard on the Indians roster, Chennai boasting Dwayne Bravo and Kolkata featuring Sunil Narine. Negotiations are under way to get all three players to turn out for Trinidad and Tobago. |
