AARON Singh, 32, an employee of the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company Limited (GT&T) at Linden, Region 10, was killed when he reportedly lost control of a motorcycle, GC1618 that he had borrowed from a friend, and crashed into four utility poles at Amelia’s Ward Linden, close to Obama Junction.
Police report the fatal accident as occurring at about 17:10 hrs on Friday, July 13; and that the resident of Noitgedacht, Linden was pronounced dead on arrival at the Mackenzie Hospital.Reports are that Singh had encountered a pool of water deposited on the road by rainfall, and was killed when he slammed head-on into the pole. Apparently, the speed with which Singh was riding the motorcycle caused him to ‘hydroplane’ when he encountered difficulties controlling the machine, as the wheels hit the water. It is believed that this caused him to skid and crash into the utility poles. Reports are that Singh was pitched off the motorcycle and his body was found some thirty yards. Singh had earlier borrowed his friend’s motorcycle and went to Amelia’s Ward where he met his death after he was traveling at a fast rate, eye witnesses said. He is survived by his wife Susan Singh and his parents who are from Fairs Rust Linden. Forty-two persons, including two children, have been killed in 39 accidents thus far for this year. |
