GODWIN Adoulph, well-known as ‘Papa’, of 7 Laing Avenue, West Ruimveldt, Georgetown, yesterday died after the motorcycle he was driving slammed into a derelict truck on the Friendship Public Road, East Bank Demerara.
It is not clear what caused him to end up under the truck. Some suggested that the heavy fog falling early yesterday morning may have blurred his vision, while others surmised that another vehicle attempting to overtake him may have forced him into the corner. According to his wife, Mrs. Sharon Adoulph, the incident occurred between 06:00hrs and 06:30hrs. Adoulph left his home after 04:00hrs yesterday to go to the Georgetown Public Hospital in order to secure a number to have a wound dressed. He went home after 05:00 am and obtained some money to go out and do some business. That was the last time his wife saw him. She said the money he took from home, along with his cell phone, was stolen from him. All police returned to her was the empty case for the phone. Adoulph was discharged from the hospital last Tuesday evening, and took a taxi home before his family returned from meetings at the Kingdom Hall. When they got in, he chose not to leave on the lights. He didn’t want to startle them or cause them to worry about a bandit being in the house. After he heard the gate open, he whistled two times for them to know he was in the house. He had a special whistle that they knew him by. Adoulph has been one of Jehovah’s Witnesses for many years. His kindness, sense of humour, and joyful spirit will deeply be missed in the Charlestown Congregation. Throughout his years of being a Witness, he entertained the hope of a resurrection. He believed that it was possible for dead ones to come alive again at the Creator’s appointed time. |
