Mazaruni Prison escapees recaptured PDF Print E-mail
MEMBERS of the Joint Services yesterday recaptured escaped convicts Sean Hopkinson, also known as Stafri Alexander, and Carlton Sampson, who escaped from the playfield of the Mazaruni Prison on Sunday July 1, 2012. Both prisoners were recaptured at Sherima Landing.
The prisoners are currently at the Mazaruni Prison and will be prosecuted for escaping from lawful custody.
The prison’s directorate, and by extension, the Ministry of Home Affairs, would like to applaud the Joint Services’ search teams for their resilience, professionalism and patience exhibited in the pursuit and recapture of the two prisoners.
The circumstances leading to the escape would be fully investigated and appropriate security and disciplinary actions taken.
