WE may never get the details of the matter leading up to Mr. Ralph Ramkarran's departure, but we can expect to be regaled with versions. As an ex-presidential candidate of the PPP, Mr. Ramkarran has been prominent in the party and its politics even to the point of being recently proposed as Speaker of the 10th Parliament in which the PPP is a minority. Roundly rejected by the opposition, Mr. Ralph Ramkarran has lately taken to critically comment in the media on issues affecting the government and Guyanese. One can expect the opposition to gloat over the resignation of Mr. Ramkarran and as has happened, belatedly hypocritically claiming to recognise his worth and his value to the nation and disparage the PPP on its loss. As a time-tested and resolute defender, one could not be surprised by the news of the party’s efforts to have Mr. Ramkarran return to its fold. |
