LAST Saturday afternoon, football fans were entertained with two good football matches as the West Demerara Football Association Stag Beer Senior Football League continued with Giftland OfficeMax Wales United defeating Bagotsville 5-1 and Seawall edging Eagles 2-1.
The opening game saw Wales open the scoring with a double from Quacy Alleyne in the 2nd and 24th minute of the first half, which saw his team take a 2-0 at lemon time.On resumption Gavin De Costa converted in the 54th minute to make it 3-0, after which Wales’ captain Kevin Roberts added his name to the scorer’s sheet with his 70th minute strike, to advance the lead 4-0. Bagotsville then got their consolation goal from Sebastian Edwards in the 84th minute, but that did not stop Wales as they got another strike from Randy Mc Pherson, seconds after Edward’s goal, before the final whistle sounded to hand Wales the win. Seawall continued their victory streak with a 2-1 win over Eagles, with Marvin Frank (30th) and Rawle Haynes (32nd) accounting for their goals after their custodian Julius Griffith failed to convert a penalty earlier, while Kester Tyrell netted in the 73rd minute for Eagles. |
