DAVID Ferrer defeated Philipp Petzschner 6-3, 6-4 in the ATP Den Bosch final to complete his tune-ups in style ahead of Wimbledon yesterday.
Top seed Ferrer, strong in Grand Slam play in 2012 with each of his defeats coming at the hands of the eventual winner, had previously lifted the trophy in 2008. And the Spaniard's straight-sets win over German Petzschner marked his fourth title of the year and the 15th of his career. Ferrer is seeded seventh at the All England Club, which gets under way tomorrow, beginning against another German player in the form of Dustin Brown. Victory in this first-ever meeting between the two players earned Ferrer a prize of over £55 000. (Eurosport) |
