Man, 42, charged with indecently assaulting girl, 11 A FORTY-TWO-YEAR-OLD man was remanded to prison yesterday, on a charge of indecently assaulting a girl eleven years of age. Keith Austin (no address given) appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry and pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which said it was committed on November 30, 2011, in Georgetown. Police Sergeant Philip Sheriff, prosecuting, informed the court that the defendant and the pre-teen live in the same Charlestown, Georgetown yard but in different houses. They are not related but the child would, often, visit the defendant’s wife. The prosecutor said, that day, the child had gone to visit the defendant’s wife but was leaving after finding the woman asleep when the husband held on to her, threw her on the floor, took off his pants and the girl’s underwear and rubbed her legs. The defendant was about to penetrate the child when his wife awoke after hearing the noise the child was making. The defendant then put the child out of the house and she later reported the incident to her mother, who made a report at Brickdam Police Station, also in Georgetown, the court was told. The case will be called again on July 6. |
