ROPLALL Singh (no address given) was remanded to prison yesterday, on a larceny from the person charge.
He appeared before Magistrate Allan Wilson and pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which said, on March 9, he stole one gold chain, worth $30,000, from Sunita Pearson. Police Corporal, Jairam Luckhai, prosecuting, successfully objected to bail for the defendant, based on the prevalence and seriousness of the offence. The prosecutor said, if it is granted, the defendant will, not likely, return for trial. The case will be called, again, on March 19. |
